Children’s Church
Pre-kindergarten & Kindergarten
We feel that it is important for our four and five year olds to begin experiencing worship with the rest of the congregation. That is why we have decided to include these young children in the first part of the worship service. These children are now able to get a picture of what is going on in “big” church as they participate in the first three aspects of the worship service: Preparation, Praise, and Renewal. The children are then dismissed prior to the session of Commitment. The children are led downstairs where they will have their own time of Commitment. It is during this time that the children hear a lesson from the Bible specifically designed for their age group.
There are many ways that you can help to make this a more meaningful experience. One thing you can do is discuss the service with your child. Use your worship guide to review what took place in the service. Begin by looking at the time of Preparation. Talk about what the word preparation means and why we need to prepare for worship. Next look at the section of Praise and discuss why we should praise God. Look at the different Scriptures and songs used during this time and talk about how they bring praise to God. Then you will be ready to discuss the time of Renewal. You can talk about the various means in which we confess our faith through means of Scripture, creeds and songs. Finally you can discuss the time of Commitment and each of you can share something that you learned from the lesson/sermon. As children become familiar with this format, they will understand that there is a purpose behind each element of the service and the worship service will become more meaningful to them.
We hope that you will enjoy training and preparing your child for worship. At the time designated in the worship guide, children will be dismissed to the narthex where an adult will escort them to their classroom. For those who attend the 11:00 service, you will need to remember to pick up your child from Sunday school as childcare will not be available for four and five year olds during the first part of the service. If both parents are involved in the music portion of the worship service, we will be happy to talk with you and find a willing adult to sit with your child. If you have any questions or concerns regarding Children’s Church, please contact me or Kelli Clifton.

Sunday School
We offer nurseries for infants and walkers during the Sunday school hour. Children age two through sixth grade study and grow in God’s Word using the curriculum of Great Commission Publications. The curriculum is Christ-centered, doctrinally sound, spiritually nourishing, and interactive. The curriculum teaches the entire Bible . . . from Genesis to Revelation.

BAM! 6:30 - 7:30, Wednesday Evenings
The Wednesday night program for children three years old through sixth grade is called BAM! It has been thoughtfully and carefully designed to provide a variety of ways for our children to joyfully know Jesus Christ, love Him more and serve Him better. BAM stands for Bible, Arts and Music and each week the children spend time learning about who God is and how to worship Him through these three subjects. In their Bible time they learn about God and His great love for us by studying and memorizing Scripture. In Art they learn to creatively and joyfully glorify God by making crafts, conducting science experiments, playing games or performing in a skit. In Music they learn to sing and use instruments in obedience to the many Scriptures that call us praise and glorify God in song.
At the end of a long school day during the middle of a busy week BAM offers a time of quick-paced fun with a purpose. Each child will learn more about God and how to love and glorify Him through the study of Scripture, creative expression and music.
We will be using Gospel Light’s Parable Quest curriculum to study parables of Jesus Christ. The fun and excitement of exploring the Amazon rainforest is combined with the transforming truth of the parables Jesus told. The everyday objects and real-life situations that Jesus described in His parables help children understand biblical principles. Each week as the students get to know Jesus better, they will be challenged to seek God’s help in loving Him more and putting these lessons into practice in their daily lives.
