DWelden

I was born in Frankfurt, Germany when my father was stationed there in the military. Most of my growing up took place in St. Louis, Missouri, which is where I met my wife Connie in the high school youth group of our church. I graduated from Missouri Baptist College with a BA in Bible/Behavioral Science and then from Covenant Theological Seminary in 1980 with a Masters of Divinity (MDiv). In 2001, I received a doctorate (DMin) from Covenant as well. After seminary, I was ordained in 1980 and served in Pittsburgh for three years as an Assistant Pastor. Following that I served as the Senior Pastor of two churches, the last one for nearly eighteen years in Atlanta. I’ve traveled to India, Pakistan, Hungary, Chile, Mexico, Ukraine, Haiti, and England preaching and teaching.

Connie and I have been married since 1976. She has spent the majority of her time raising our four children and ministering alongside me, especially in hospitality. She also loves to teach children and has been serving as one of the Children’s Ministry Sunday School teachers for many years. We have four children and nine grandchildren: Nathan and his wife live near Atlanta and have three daughters and a son; Rachel and her husband live in Georgia and have three sons; Benjamin and his wife live in Columbia and have two daughters; and Abby and her husband live in Georgia.

Part of my testimony is the way that God used this big “event” in my life in spiritually shaping me. To listen to the message Lessons from a Heart Attack, click here.
