Purpose of Activities
Wednesday evening Youth Group 6pm-8pm
Middle and Senior High students gather for modern worship, worldview
Biblical teaching and fellowship. This is a tool to teach our youth
Biblical truths as well as an outreach event for any student who comes.
This time is strategically broken up into different elements to
accomplish several goals.
6-6:30 time for students to catch up with friends, play games like
volleyball, b-ball, video games etc. This is a built in time for the
volunteer leaders to be engaged in relational ministry with various
students during this time. This is also a fun time that students enjoy
and it is a great tool for inviting their unchurched friends to youth
group to come hang out or play whatever game they are into.
6:30-6:45 Exciting, lively, meaningful worship with a full band made up
of mostly students. This is a great tool to teach them to focus their
praise and adoration toward an amazing God.
6:46-7 fun game or skit. This one is a silly element to the average
onlooker. But this is an intentional tool to break down barriers that
kids come in with. The music builds them up, the games and skits make
them laugh and they begin to let down any guard that this “youth group
thing” is going to be lame or that they aren’t interested in God stuff.
7:01-7:06 a few slower songs to calm the group down and prepare them for the message.
7:07-7:30 Practical, Biblical worldview teaching for how God’s word can
impact their lives as teens here in Irmo, Sc.
7:30-8 hang out with friends and provide opportunity to discuss the nights lesson one on one with students
Sunday School is a teaching time to focus on reformed theology. We currently use the GCP 6 year curriculum for teens.
Small Groups are
on Sunday nights from 6-7. We divide the teens by middle and high
school as well as by gender. These discipleship groups are key to
making a big group small. These groups meet for study, fellowship,
prayer and accountability. It is a wonderful opportunity for students
and leaders to go deeper and care for one another in a more intentional
manner.
Social Activities and Special Events are
times of fellowship with other believers and can be an outreach tool
where students can bring their friends to a non-threatening environment
Fall Retreats are
getaways especially designed for the student to grow in their
relationships with each other. We also recognize retreats as a tool
used for outreach to unchurched students as well as a tool to deepen
their relationship with Christ.
Summer Mission Trips provide
opportunities for students to gain perspective on the worldwide need to
tell others about Christ and encourage teamwork in completing a project
and evangelizing.
Local Missions
we provide opportunities for youth and their families to be involved in
local mission work through organizations like HomeWorks, Harvest Hope
Food Bank, and Sharing God’s love.
