Tyler McSwain
I was born in the greater Charleston, SC, area where I grew up and lived until moving to Columbia. I was raised in a Christian home in which my parents always taught me biblical principles and truths and encouraged me to read God’s Word and pray often. In the summer of 2001, my youth pastor and mentor shared the gospel with me, and I had a very clear understanding and conviction of my own depravity and need for Christ. Within a few years of this, the Lord called me to ministry. In pursuit of full-time ministry, I attended and graduated from Charleston Southern University in 2009 with a BA in Christian Studies and Youth Ministry, and in 2018 with an MA in Christian Studies. I also attended Knox Theological Seminary and completed a Master of Divinity in 2023.
In 2016, I married my best friend and wife, Tracey. We have two wonderful children: our son, Noah, and our daughter, Emily. We enjoy doing indoor crafts, games, movies, and outdoor activities together. Tracey and I are passionate about “doing life” and building community with other parents and investing our gifts and time into mentoring and counseling the next generation of students and young adults. However, let’s be honest. Being a dad of two young kids and a youth director means I get to spend a lot of time being a “big kid” at heart, playing a lot of games, and having a ton of fun.
